Residual flood damage under intensive adaptation

چکیده
The risk of river flooding is expected to increase with climate change and socioeconomic development, therefore additional protection measures are required reduce the potential for increased flood damage. While studies have investigated effectiveness adaptation risks, none has evaluated residual damage (RFD), which reflects projected in under intensive adaptation. Here we evaluate RFD several objectives using an inundation model incorporating estimates a cost–benefit analysis, estimate that China, India Latin American countries can achieve higher levels will even extreme scenarios. However, high (exceeding 0.1% subnational administrative gross domestic product) remains, especially eastern northern central Africa. could be reduced shorter construction periods or lower costs, implying need immediate appropriate actions, including enhanced financial support high-risk regions. Residual remaining from floods after been implemented, estimated across globe various scenarios projections. remains some Asian African regions, suggesting limit there.

Coastal flood damage and adaptation costs under 21st century sea-level rise.
Coastal flood damage and adaptation costs under 21st century sea-level rise are assessed on a global scale taking into account a wide range of uncertainties in continental topography data, population data, protection strategies, socioeconomic development and sea-level rise. Uncertainty in global mean and regional sea level was derived from four different climate models from the Coupled Model In...
متن کامل“ Assessment of economic flood damage ”
Damage assessments of natural hazards supply crucial information to decision support and policy development in the fields of natural hazard management and adaptation planning to climate change. Specifically, the estimation of economic flood damage is gaining greater importance as flood risk management is becoming the dominant approach of flood control policies throughout Europe. This paper revi...
متن کاملFlood damage , vulnerability and risk perception - challenges for flood damage research
The current state-of-the-art in flood damage analysis mainly focuses on the economic evaluation of tangible flood effects. It is contended in this discussion paper that important economic, social and ecological aspects of flood-related vulnerabilities are neglected. It is a challenge for flood research to develop a wider perspective for flood damage evaluation.
متن کاملFlood damage assessment for Dhaka City, Bangladesh
Flood damage assessment is a key component in the development of city flood risk management strategies. A flood damage assessment model is being developed by combining flood hazard information (depth, extent, velocity, duration, etc.) with geographic information (land use/cover, buildings, infrastructure, etc.), social-economic data and population demographics to estimate urban flood impacts. I...
متن کاملA NEW DAMAGE INDEX FOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE IDENTIFICATION BY MEANS OF WAVELET RESIDUAL FORCE
In this paper a new method is presented for structural damage identification. First, the damaged structure is excited by short duration impact acceleration and then, the recorded structural displacement time history responses under free vibration conditions are analyzed by Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) and Wavelet Residual Force (WRF) is calculated. Finally, an effective d...
